Natural Stone

Granite is one of the most valuable natural stones used in constructions. Being a very hard rock, with a visible crystalline structure, the granite is usually polished to a high gloss finish. The colours, the dimension of the crystals, the structure and the patterns of granite can vary from region to region. The hardness and the density of granite make it the perfect choise for floors and pavements, countertops and jambs. This type of material is suitable for kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities because its gloss has a great resistance to scratches, chemicals and variations in temperature. Furthermore, we recommend you to use granite for high-traffic areas.

Marble is a recrystallized limestone which admits a high degree polishing. It contains veinings and colour variations that contribute to the stone's unique nature, that is why marble is perceived as one of the most decorative natural rocks. Colour variations are produced by the foreign substances making up the stone's compositions. Marble is mainly used for outdoor plates, but also for decorative objects and medium traffic floors.

Travertine is a type of limestone with a unique "pitted" surface. These small alveoles were created millions of years ago by the hot springs that surrounded the geologic stratum. Because is a limestone, travertine does not takes on a polish and is used for antique looking finishes. Travertine has the same usage as limestone.

Limestone is a sedimentary rock, composed of calcium carbonate. Being a non-crystalline rock, limestone has a uniform composition, texture, and structure, and will not admit polish. Limestone is a rock formed on the bottom of the prehistoric seas and its colour range vary from white to beige and grey. Limestone is used for indoor and outdoor plates, fireplaces, decorative objects and large architectural pieces.

Depending on the processing method, the natural stone can have different shapes and a unique appearance.

  • Burshed natural stone
The brushed natural stone result when the polish process is ended before a glossy surface is obtained. After brushing it the stone will exhibit a mat surface.
  • Polished natural stone
This type of natural stone has a glossy, mirror like surface.
  • Antiquated natural stone
The antiquisation of the natural stone is a technique that implies the application of a special acid on the surface of the rock for a period of time. The reaction between the acid and the rock is neutralized using a base. Antiquated natural stone has an old look, but at the same time is clean, a bit glossy and anti-slip.
  • Brush hammered natural stone
The surface of the natural stone is hit with some hummers, similar to a mace. Using this technique, the surface of the rock becomes rough and porous.
  • Wrought natural stone
This type of natural stone has a regular shap while the unwrought natural stone has a polygonal shape and it is used for outdoor platers and pavement...
